Take a moment to think back on a special memory you have from your childhood—maybe it’s playing in freshly fallen snow, cookies made by your grandma or opening your pencil box on the first day of school. As I brought up each of those scenarios, I almost guarantee you could SMELL every one of them. Smell is such a pivotal part of our senses, making it a powerful tool to have in our hosting belt.
Each time I invite guests over, I love to have a candle going to make my house smell welcoming. However, as more and more people become conscious about trying to reduce toxins in their lives, you may be looking for a more natural alternative to making your home smell inviting.
Enter the simmer pot: an all-natural way to make your house smell cozy during colder months. Simmer pot ingredients can also be placed in a jar and make wonderful gifts for Christmas, or hostess presents!
Easy Simmer Pot Recipe:
4 cinnamon sticks
5 orange slices
5 lemon slices
1 cup of cranberries
2 teaspoons of nutmeg
1 teaspoon of cloves
Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add ingredients and let them boil for a few minutes, then reduce the heat and slowly simmer. Add more water as needed throughout the day and enjoy!
